Langley MP encourages environmental nominations

The nominations for the Langley Environmental Hero Award will open at the end of this month, and Langley’s MP is encouraging people to think of worthy locals.

“We invite Langley residents to mark March 25th on their calendars as their first opportunity to nominate an Environmental Hero,” said Mark Warawa. “There are many environmental heroes who have greatly contributed their time and energy in order to make the Langleys a more environmentally sustainable place to live. In 2014, we hope to continue to recognize these unsung heroes for their valuable contribution to our community.”

The award has been presented annually since 2006 to recognize grassroots efforts, said Warawa.

Winners will be named on Canada Day, and will be commemorated with a plaque and a heritage apple tree to be planted at the Fort Langley National Historic Site over the summer.

Nomination forms will be available starting on March 25 on Warawa’s website at markwarawa.com, or at leps.bc.ca.

There are three categories of nominations: youth, individual adult, and business.
