Cloverdale-Langley City MP John Aldag is hosting a public town hall on federal election reform on Aug. 2.
The purpose is to raise awareness of potential changes to Canada’s federal electoral system and provide an opportunity for community members to discuss and share their views on this issue with each other.
The public can have a say starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at the Cloverdale Recreation Centre, 6188 176th St.
Aldag was appointed to the Special House of Commons Committee on Electoral Reform which is studying alternatives to the current first-past-the-post system.
“I am very excited to have been asked to join this committee and I am thrilled that we are starting this important dialogue with Canadians. I am going into this debate with an open mind and I look forward to hearing from a wide range of opinions,” he said when appointed.
The Special Committee was created by the House of Commons on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 and is composed of 5 Liberal Members, 3 Conservative Members, 2 NDP Members, 1 Member from the Bloc Quebecois and the Member from the Green Party of Canada.
