Students at Langley Fine Arts School performed poetry, sang, performed music, and danced as part of their school's series of Remembrance Day concerts.
Schools around Langley marked Remembrance Day on Nov. 10, a day before the Nov. 11 holiday.
At Langley Fine Arts, principal Jon Bonnar acted as the master of ceremonies for the students' performances.
He also spoke about the Battle of Vimy Ridge in France, and the number of Canadian soldiers who were killed and injured there in 1917, 99 years ago.
Bonnar concluded by telling students and parents they had reasons to thank those "who have died in the quest for peace," and encouraging them to visit cenotaphs on Nov. 11.
At Aldergrove Community Secondary, local veterans were scheduled to speak to high school students about the realities of war and the reasons for Remembrance Day.
Remembrance Day ceremonies are held at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, at the moment that the armistice that ended the First World War was declared.
