The best-paid administrators at Langley Township were at or close to the top one per cent of Canadian wage earners, according to a just-released financial information report.
The Township report, as required by law, lists all employees who made more than $75,000 a year in 2013.
There were 205. That’s up from 185 in 2012, which was up from 165 the year before.
Three of the top 10 earners employed by the Township are in the top one per cent of wage earners, defined by Statistics Canada figures as any individual making more than $191,100 a year.
Mark Bakken, municipal administrator, was paid the most at $288,715 and claimed $12,250 in expenses.
Jason Winslade, general manager, Municipal Administration and Community Services, was number two, paid $227,361 along with $5,295 in expenses.
Ramin Seifi, general manager, Engineering and Community Development, rounded out the top three at $226,604. He claimed $12,034 in expenses.
Christine Blair, director, Corporate Administration, made $188,999 and claimed $4,584 in expenses.
Shannon Harvey-Renner, director, Human Resources, made $188,849 plus $1,473 in expenses.
David Leavers, director, Recreation, Culture and Parks, made $188,999 plus $3,130 in expenses.
Hilary Tsikayi, director, Finance, made $188,849 plus $2,437 expenses.
Fire Chief Stephen Gamble was paid $173,863 plus $2,558 expenses.
Roeland Zwaag, director, Public Works was paid $173,429 and collected $854 in expenses.
Stephen Richardson, director, Development Services, made $173,020 and claimed $2,487.
The financial report also covers council.
It shows Mayor Jack Froese made the most income and incurred the highest expenses of any member of Township council, with $106,552 salary plus $9,287 in expenses.
All councillors made around $45,000 to $47,000, with Councillor Grant Ward claiming the highest amount of expenses at $8,919.
Ward told The Times the higher expenses reflected his attendance at a number of out-of-town events on behalf of the Township last year, in particular a Federation of Canadian Municipalities conference in Windsor, Ontario.
Councillor David Davis claimed the least in expenses, just $226.
Salary figures for the City of Langley were released earlier this month.
