A Langley woman is home from hospital after she was struck by an SUV while walking through a marked crosswalk in the pouring rain Sunday night.

Around 9:15 p.m., emergency crews were called to 203 St. and 66 Ave. where a pedestrian had been struck.

Multiple citizens stopped to help the woman who was lying on the ground. The driver remained at the scene, said police.

Originally, it was believed the victim suffered serious head trauma and was transported to Royal Columbian Hospital.

"It turned out she only had minor injuries with some bruising and was released that night," said Langley RCMP Sgt. Ravi Pawar.

It's not believed the driver is facing any fines or charges, police said.
