There has been no shortage of discussion among Langley residents when it comes to the proposed Kinder Morgan TransMountain pipeline expansion. With an extension for feedback, those who wish to have their concerns be heard that haven’t done so already, have the opportunity to put it in writing.
The Township of Langley has been granted corporate intervener status in the pipeline hearing and is asking the public for comments.
As a corporate intervener, the Township has become part of the ongoing proceedings and will provide input during the upcoming public hearing. The hearing is being held by the National Energy Board (NEB), which is the organization that is reviewing the TransMountain pipeline expansion application.
The Township will be focusing its input on three specific issues:
1. The potential environmental and socio-economic effects of the proposed project
2. The suitability of the design and location of the proposed project
3. Potential impacts of the project on landowners and land use
Township residents who would like to provide their comments regarding these three concerns can do so until May 8.
Relevant information will be submitted on May 12. A second round to submit information and questions will be held in September and public input will be collected over the summer.
