It was a surreal moment for Loriann Sandy when she discovered she won a $1 million Maxmillion prize on the Dec. 18 Lotto Max draw.

“I still don’t feel this is real. I am still asking myself if this is real,” admitted Sandy.

Sandy was alone when she checked her ticket but was able to drive herself home safely before telling her mother about the win.

“She is very excited about my win. My mom has already shared the news with the rest of our family,” she said.

Sandy is passionate about animals and plans to buy a big SUV with her winnings so she can accommodate her cat and two rottweilers. She also plans to pay it forward and donate money to Rottweiler Rescue in Vancouver and the BC SPCA.

“I think this is good karma because I love to help animals and I donate to the BC SPCA monthly,” said Sandy.

The winning ticket was purchased at Ed’s Market in Brookswood.
