Man breaks into business and eats some ice cream

Langley RCMP arrived to find the suspect sitting at a table eating some ice cream from the freezer on Jan. 9.

A man of no fixed address is now facing a criminal charge after celebrating his upcoming birthday by breaking into a Langley City business and helping himself to their ice cream.

Langley RCMP were called to a break and enter in progress at a business  in the 19600 block of Fraser Highway just after midnight on Jan. 9.

Officers arrived to find the front window of the business had been smashed and the man responsible sitting at a table eating some ice cream from the freezer.

The culprit politely greeted the officers and said he was just using the phone. He was arrested without incident.

The now 31-year-old was to celebrate his birthday the next day and reports he has no fixed address.

Police will recommend a charge of break and enter and the man was released with a promise to appear in Surrey Provincial Court on Jan. 30.
