A market building containing the wares of many local artisans went up in flames in the early hours of Tuesday (Feb. 18) near Cultus Lake.

Cultus Lake Fire Department and Chilliwack Fire Department extinguished the fire that was called in after midnight.

"Last night our community lost The Feral Bee Artisan Market to a devastating fire," according to the Cultus Lake Community Association page.

The building that erupted in fire was next to Kent’s Ice Cream, east of the Cultus Lake Plaza.

"Our heartfelt sympathies to all the artisans that have been affected and to the owner Michelle."
