Langley school district is in the process of community consultation about implementing a district-wide middle school model.

The community middle school transition process is underway, the Langley School District announced on its website this week.

District staff met with parent representatives from the Brookswood, Walnut Grove, D.W. Poppy, and Fundamental schools on Nov. 23 in order to share the timeline for the consultation process with respect to the transition to a middle school model in each of the communities.

“Excellent feedback was provided by each of the family of school’s representatives in terms of the information and format required in order to meet the needs of their communities,” according to a statement published on the website.

The plan of the District Leadership Team is to proceed with the process concurrently, with all communities going forward versus completing the process one community at a time.

The team hopes to bring the long term facilities plan, with a series of motions related to middle school programming, to the May 30, 2017 school board meeting.
