One person was taken to hospital after a Mini Cooper sheared off a power pole in Langley City Sunday evening.

The single-vehicle crash happened at about 9:45 p.m. in the 4600 block of 200th street, said assistant fire chief Scott Kennedy of Langley City Fire Rescue Service.

All the occupants of the car had gotten out by the time firefighters arrived at the scene. One was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The vehicle crashed through a power pole, smashing it and leaving cables across the road, Kennedy said.

Part of 200th Street was closed down Sunday evening while Telus, Shaw, and BC Hydro were called to make repairs.

The Langley RCMP were also called in.
