More than 8,500 vote in advance in two Langley ridings

People don’t need to wait until general election day to cast a ballot in the B.C. election.

The latest numbers are out for the advance voting in the B.C. general election.

The Langley riding has has 7,053 people, out of the 40,077 registered voters, cast advanced voting ballots up to Saturday, May 6.

In the Langley East riding, 7,137 people have voted on the advance voting days. That riding has 46,480 registered voters.

Provincially, there are 3,156,991 registered voters. So far 614,389 people have voted in advance polls. Advance voter turnout in past elections has ranged from a low of 5.74 per cent in 1996 to 20.34 per cent of the total turnout in the 2013 election.

In general, advance voting has risen steadily, and Elections BC has made more advance voting opportunities available.
