Most of Willoughby in the dark this morning

Power pole knocked down, causing traffic lights to go out, commuting nightmare. Power restored at 10:30 a.m.

A knocked over a power pole at 208 Street and 77A Avenue sent most of Willoughby and Walnut Grove into the dark, turning the main commuter roads into parking lots on Friday morning.

BC Hydro reports power is supposed to be back on around 10:30 a.m. They indicate the outage was caused by a crash but there are also reports a construction crew knocked it down. More than 2,300 impacted.

In the meantime, lights are out at 200 Street and 80 Ave. causing massive backups both north and south bound as everyone has to abide by the four-way stop system.

Power is out at Gordon Greenwood, West Langley, Richard Bulpitt, Willoughby, Yorkson and REMSS. But school is still in session, confirmed Langley School District.
