Off-ice scuffle involving Langley man nets assault charge

A 45-year-old West Vancouver man has his first court appearance May 6 after an off-ice scuffle at a Bantam hockey game left a Langley senior with bruises.

West Vancouver Police were called to the Hollyburn Country Club where the Hollyburn Huskies AAA bantam team was in a playoff game with a visiting Semiahmoo team.

A brawl broke out in the game of 13- and 14-year-olds late in the game and the ref ended the game.

The scuffle was in the upstairs viewing area.

Bystanders attempted to intervene and the police were called.

Christian Patrick Jarvis of West Vancouver was charged with assault. Crown has suggested diversion and alternative measures in this case.
