An outdoor classroom for people of all ages officially opened at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum in the 21200 block of Fraser Highway in Langley Saturday.

The Literary Circle features a grass-covered amphitheatre with tiered seating, and outdoor blackboards that can be used for outdoor education classes hosted by the Township of Langley and the Langley Environmental Partners Society.

It can also be used as a performance space.

Visitors can search for letters of the alphabet that have been scattered among the gravel stones.

The Circle is the last legacy project from the 2014 Senior Games in Langley, with $17,000 coming from the Games legacy fund.

The Rotary Club of Langley contributed $8,000 and the remaining cost of $25,000 came from the Township.

Members of both Langley councils were on hand for the opening.
