A letter was sent home to parents at Douglas Park Community Elementary yesterday, warning them of an incident where a man may have attempted to lure a student into his car.

According to a parent, just after dismissal on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 26), her daughter was playing in the soccer field when a man, who is unknown to them, “attempted to lure my daughter into his car.”

“He asked her to come and sit in his brand new car and to come look at his shiny new wheels,” the parent told the Times.

Her daughter promptly ran away and told her dad, who then took her into the school and called the police.

Langley RCMP conducted a search for the suspect, but were unable to locate him, Cpl. Holly Largy confirmed.

The letter sent home to parents describes the man as Caucasian, in his late 30s to late 40s, overweight and wearing a black hoodie with no shirt.

He was driving a newer four-door Chrysler 200 or 300, charcoal in colour. There may have also been a second person in the car.

Parents and caregivers who witness unusual, suspicious behaviour are being asked to call 911 immediately, the letter says.
