The Pitt Meadows Regional Airport may be looking for a new manager.

There was a social media report that Guy Miller has resigned after just two months on the job.

Pitt Meadows Coun. Bill Dingwall, a declared mayoral candidate, said he has learned about the resignation.

However, Pitt Meadows Mayor John Becker, interim chair of YPK board of directors, which oversees airport operations, would not confirm the resignation.

Becker said it is a personnel issue, and that there is nothing to report at this time.

“It’s a loss for us at, kind of, a critical time, with the airport planning and visioning that is taking place,” said Dingwall.

Dingwall is hoping that he and the rest of council will get an explanation about why Miller resigned.

He noted the airport is being run by an interim board made up of three members of council from both Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, and Dingwall said it needs to become a civilian board with new members appointed after the election.

Becker responded to questions about Miller’s resignation by saying it is a human resources conversation, and there is nothing to announce at this time.

Pitt Meadows Coun. Bruce Bell, also on the YPK board, characterized the situation as “a work in progress.”

Miller was hired to run YPK beginning on June 18. He is a former Royal Canadian Air Force fighter pilot, commercial pilot and instructor with Cathay Pacific Airways, and worked at the Langley Regional Airport as deputy manager from 2005 until 2012 when he was appointed manager.
