Langley MLA Mary Polak has been appointed as health minister in the Liberal’s provincial government.

Premier Christy Clark named her cabinet on Monday, appointing Polak to the large portfolio. Polak previously served as environment minister. Former health minister Terry Lake was not re-elected on May 9.

Langley East MLA Rich Coleman, moves from natural gas to energy and mines, replacing the retired Bill Bennett.

Peter Fassbender was not re-elected in his riding of Surrey-Fleetwood, so the position of minister in charge of TransLink is now the responsibility of Sam Sullivan (Vancouver-False Creek.

However, these appointments may be short-lived as the minority cabinet would not likely survive a confidence vote once they legislature is recalled June 22.
