As a Coast Guard rescue diver looks on, a stolen Mazda SUV is pulled out of the water at Marina Park in Fort Langley.

A submerged vehicle was spotted in the Fraser River near Marina Park in Fort Langley on Dec. 31 around 12:20 p.m.

Langley RCMP and Langley Township fire department crews responded after receiving the call.

Officers attending could see the top of the vehicle approximately 30 metres east of Marina Park in the Fraser River, about 15 metres from shore.

The Coast Guard hovercraft arrived and a diver determined that there was no one inside the vehicle. Police confirm that the 2002 Mazda had been stolen from Coquitlam and dumped in the river.

A tow truck pulled the vehicle from the water after the search was concluded.

Police are investigating the incident.
