Anyone in Langley missing a Harris Hawk?

This rare bird was spotted at Brydon Lagoon a short time ago, and photographer and avid birdwatcher Cos van Wermeskerken is sure someone is missing this bird.

Its legs are tied, and it was the noise of its bell that first alerted van Wermeskerken to its presence at the Langley City park

He took this picture today, at 3:15 p.m.

"I'm not an expert on birds," he said, but "I took this photo of what I believe to be a Harris Hawk. Someone is probably looking for it because I am not aware of them living in the wild anywhere North of Texas."

He suggested it might belongs to someone who hunts with it, perhaps a falconer.

It was located close to the Brydon Lagoon parking lot, near the small pond just south of the gravel road near the parking lot.

"When it flew up, it moved a few hundred yards West in the floodplain," said the nearby resident who hopes this message will reach the bird's owner.
