The former front entrance to Langley City hall is getting a makeover.

It was closed as part of the renovations that linked the existing building to the new Timms community centre, when the entrance was shifted west.

Work is underway on the existing exterior landscape terrace in front of City Hall to build what a City press release describes as a “new secure outdoor terrace” accessed from within city hall, and possibly available for special events.

The work involves the demolition of existing brick walls, steps and ramp; removal and relocation of existing sculptures and signage; removal of deck surface; forming, pouring and completion of new concrete walls; replacement of existing water proof membrane and integration with all new walls and pools; completion of all exterior lighting to terrace; fabrication and installation of metal fence; and signage installation.

The project is expected to be completed fall 2018.

Sidewalk access will be limited during construction.
