One of the older homes on the Kwantlen First Nation reserve went up in flames Monday afternoon.
Township fire was called around 3 p.m. for what people believed to be a bush fire by the former Albion ferry terminal in Fort Langley.
When fire crews arrived, they scoured the area but couldn't find any fire, said assistant fire chief Bruce Ferguson.
"Then someone came running up to the firefighters saying it was a house on fire and there were thought to be two kids inside," said Ferguson.
Firefighters rushed to the smaller home that set back away from the road.
Nobody was inside and the owner and his son met fire crews on scene. They were uninjured.
Sadly, the home was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters and fire trucks arrived, said Ferguson.
The cause of the blaze is unknown but fire investigators were down at the scene of the rubble again on Tuesday morning.
