Candy Ashdown (City) – Yes. Our current Board, formed Liaison Committees with both the Township and City councils. It has strengthened our relationships with the City and Township and given us a formal opportunity to discuss matters which are important to both Council and the Board.
Megan Dykeman (Township) – Yes. The current board committed early on to working with the municipalities, by increasing communication, to ensure that there is a mutual understanding of the issues. Meetings are held monthly in a joint committee, where staff councillors and trustees attend. Communication outside of those meetings happens as needed. The current working relationship is excellent. Although no one should claim that the level of communication is perfect, in my view it is generally as timely and as often as is necessary to meet the needs of both the board and the municipalities.
Kristine Ketter (Township) – No. I have heard varying reports about how the Township and the District work together. The fact that the reports do vary makes me question the quality of the communication between the two.
Suzanne Perreault (Township) – My observation is that the School District does have a good general working relationship with both the City & Township of Langley. However clearer metrics to understand and predict responsible growth in the community to serve the children of families moving in, ensuring we have the appropriate facilities available, meeting the needs of the children, are necessary. It is also imperative that the incoming Board within itself builds on the foundation that has been laid by this outgoing Board. The internal working relationship amongst the elected seven is critical to the continuum of success and growth building on communication, collaboration and integrity working alongside senior management in the spirit of respect with the clear goal of educating children to always be kept in front.
Rod Ross (Township) – Yes. Our liaison meetings keep relationships intact and communication flows moving.
David Tod (Township) – Yes, but more consultation needed
