School district golf tournament returns

The Langley School District Foundation is holding their seventh annual Golf Tournament on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at Redwoods Golf Course.

The Langley School District Foundation is holding their seventh annual Golf Tournament on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at Redwoods Golf Course. As always, the very popular event features 18 holes of golf, power carts, tailgate party prior to tee-off, a steak and salmon BBQ, great prizes and a live and silent auction.

In keeping with the Foundation’s mission statement — Making learning unforgettable for every Langley student — all proceeds from this year’s tournament will go to support 21st Century learning and keeping kids in school.

“There are so many essential programs that benefit students that are not funded by the Ministry of Education,” said Susan Cairns, executive director of the Foundation.

It’s great that the Foundation can be there to fund programs that, in many cases keep students from dropping out of school.

Examples include Do the Math Kits especially designed to provide intense instruction to students struggling in all math concepts at all levels; athletic programs that provide a great enticement to non-academic students and keep all students away from gang activity, drugs and alcohol; new technology designed to help students with special needs, learning disabilities or physical challenges, to name just a few.

Registration is $195 for a single, $725 for a foursome or $50 for dinner. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon for a great cause.
