Shoeless burglar flees Langley resident

A burglar was scared off by a Langley homeowner Wednesday.

A homeowner scared off a burglar, who sprinted away without his shoes early Wednesday morning, according to Langley RCMP.

Just after 5 a.m., a woman leaving for work from the 2400 block of 251st Street told her husband that there was a bicycle in the ditch near the entrance to their property, said Cpl. Holly Largy.

She also noticed that someone had gone through her vehicle. A door to the couple’s home was ajar.

The woman headed off to work while her husband went back inside, said Largy.

Some items had been moved, and the man decided to thoroughly search the house.

In the basement, he found a man crouched in a closet, holding a wallet that belonged to the homeowner.

The resident demanded the wallet back, and the suspect handed it over and then ran out of the house.

He was dressed in a hoodie and grey socks. His shoes were later found inside the home, Largy said.

The suspect is described as a young Caucasian man, about 5’9” to 5’10”.

The bike found in the ditch is believed to have been the suspect’s.

Anyone who has information on the suspect is asked to call the Langley RCMP at 604-9532-3200, or to leave an anonymous tip, contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or at, or by texting BCTIP and your message to CRIMES (274637).
