Langley Driver Services Centre on Logan Avenue was closed as the result of a one-day strike Wednesday, and remained closed Thursday and Friday because of a water leak.

Approximately 1,300 union workers, one-third of ICBC’s unionized workforce, staged a one-day strike on Wednesday to protest lagging contract talks.

The walk-out at the Langley Driver Services centre coincided with a water pipe break, which was discovered on Wednesday morning. A restoration company was mopping up at the Logan Avenue/203 Street centre, as the employees walked the picket line. The centre will not reopen until (today) Tuesday, Oct. 9.

The ICBC employees belong to the Canadian Office and Professional Employees  union, Local 378, who have been without a contract for more than two years.
