Suspect arrested in Port Kells

A man suspected of numerous break ins in Cloverdale and South Surrey was arrested in Port Kells last month. Curtis Anderson, 22, has been charged with 21 counts of property-related offences, including five counts of theft under $5,000, four counts of breaking and entering with intent, two counts of mischief, two counts of trespassing at night, and two counts of obstructing a peace officer.

Anderson was arrested Nov. 26 following a brief foot pursuit in the 9600 block of 192nd Street, said Cpl. Bert Paquet of the Surrey RCMP.

Anderson allegedly committed multiple break ins over three days, between Nov. 24 and 26.

He is currently in custody pending a Dec. 4 court appearance.

“Although an arrest has been made, we continue to urge the public to remain vigilant. At this time of year thieves become bolder, knowing that some residents are making larger purchases for the holidays,” said Paquet. “Reduce your chances of becoming a victim by removing all valuables and shopping bags from your vehicle, locking and latching all doors and windows of your home, and leaving a light on when you are not at home.”
