The suspect in a break and enter in rural North Langley ended up having to be taken to hospital by air ambulance Monday.
The Langley RCMP is currently investigating a break and enter in the 10100 block of Allard Crescent.
Police were called shortly after 1 p.m. Sept. 22 when a tenant, accompanied by his friend, entered his home and came face-to-face with a male who had apparently broken into the residence.
“The suspect had a large knife in his hand however the tenant was undeterred,†said Langley RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks.
The two men ended up in a physical altercation that moved down a set of stairs.
The suspect was stabbed in the leg and the tenant was stabbed in the hand during the fall.
“The wounded suspect attempted to flee through the carport and steal a vehicle from the driveway belonging to the tenant’s friend. He was unsuccessful as the tenant and the vehicle’s owner pulled him from the vehicle,†Marks added.
Both the tenant and the suspect have been transported to hospital for treatment.
“Initially, the suspect’s injury was thought to be life-threatening however he appears to have improved significantly since his arrival at the hospital,†Marks said.
The police investigation have found that it appears the suspect arrived at the residence on a motorbike stolen from Maple Ridge.
“Further, a female, believed to be associated to the suspect, standing at the entrance to the property was arrested nearby,†she said.
The investigation continues as the RCMP figures out the charge recommendations that will be submitted to Crown counsel.
