SUV torched in Langley field

A vehicle owner will arrive back from an out of town trip to find his grey Dodge Durango is now in a wreckers’ yard after it was set on fire.

The RCMP was notified just before 8 a.m., on Sept. 16 to 201st Street and 80th Avenue for a vehicle fire, explained Langley RCMP Const. Craig van Herk.

“The fire department called us in,” he said.

No one was found with the vehicle and the owner has been out of town.

“It looks like it was probably a dumped stolen [vehicle],” he said.

In another Sept. 16 incident, a pickup truck hit a power pole and the transformer was blown, van Herk said.

The incident was at 264th Street and 56th Avenue.

“He did the right thing,” van Herk said.

The driver remained at the scene after causing property damage, and was issued a ticket for driving without due care and attention.
