Thief suspected in Langley, Maple Ridge attacks

RCMP from both Maple Ridge and Langley are investigating robberies that appear to be the work of the same set of thieves.

At about 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 12 a lone man entered a Maple Ridge Chevron gas station in the 20500 block of Lougheed Highway.

After threatening the clerk with a weapon, the bandit stole an undisclosed amount of money and lottery tickets.

He left the gas station in a silver-grey car, possibly a Pontiac Sunfire, which was driven by a female accomplice.

A short time later, at approximately 12:30 a.m. a similarly described man entered a north Langley Chevron station by shattering the locked glass door.

He then smashed the front counter glass case with a hammer and took more than $400 in lottery tickets and ordered the attendant to open the cash register.

He made off with the coin drawer as well. The vehicle observed in this robbery was a dark red car, possibly a Honda.

The bandit is described as a Caucasian man in his late 20s or early 30s, approximately 5’8” tall with a medium build, no facial hair, and dark coloured eyes.

He was wearing a black or dark blue hooded sweatshirt with the word “shady” written on the front, blue jeans, and tan-coloured boots. The man appeared to have long, dark-coloured hair.

“There is good evidence to indicate this is the same male and female who are responsible for both robberies, so Langley and Ridge Meadows RCMP investigators will be teaming up to solve these incidents,” said Ridge Meadows RCMP Cpl. Alanna Dunlop. “The RCMP integrated forensic identification section has been called in to assist.”

“As always, we look forward to working together with Ridge Meadows RCMP to identify those responsible and follow through with this joint investigation,” added Langley RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks.
