Thousands in Langley flock to early polls

Early turnout has already reached thousands after two days.

Several thousand Langley residents have already cast ballots over two days of early voting, according to Elections BC.

In the B.C. election, general voting day is Tuesday, May 9, but early polls were open Saturday and Sunday.

In the Langley riding, 2,639 votes were cast. There are an estimated 40,077 eligible voters in the riding.

In Langley East, voters cast 2,875 ballots, out of 46,480 estimated eligible voters.

The Abbotsford South riding, which includes Aldergrove and parts of South Langley, saw just 1,763 ballots cast in early turnout so far.

The next early voting period runs from Wednesday, May 3 to Saturday, May 6, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Early voting in the Langley riding takes place at the Douglas Rec Centre at 20550 Douglas Crescent and the George Preston Rec Centre at 20699 42 Ave.

In the Langley East riding, voting takes place at the Bethel Mennonite Church at 24687 56 Ave., at the W.C. Blair Rec Centre at 22200 Fraser Highway, and at the Walnut Grove Community Centre at 8889 Walnut Grove Dr.

The W.C. Blair polling place will only be open Saturday, May 6 during the next early voting period.
