Ishtar Transition Housing Society and Soroptimist International of the Langleys are joining forces to host a candlelight vigil in downtown Langley City Friday evening.

Rain or shine, this 12th annual event starts at 6 p.m. in McBurney Plaza at 20508 Fraser Hwy.

The vigil marks International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and begins a 16-day campaign (through Dec. 10 – Human Rights Day) calling for activism against gender-based violence, said Soroptimist Sheena Willerton.
