The Aldergrove CPO, where a man claimed he was pursued by would-be kidnappers in June of 2010.

The trial of three men charged with trying to run over an Aldergrove pedestrian with a truck in a parking lot near a community police office (CPO) ended with 24-year-old Craig Ivan Dennis convicted on one count of theft, 21-year-old Caylen Graham Pelletier acquitted on a charge of kidnapping and all other charges dismissed against Dennis, Pelletier and co-accused Jason Francis Wallace, 22.

Court records show Dennis was fined $500 plus a $75 victim surcharge and given one year's probation.

He has until Sept. 30 of this year to pay.

All three men were originally charged with attempted kidnapping, while Pelletier was charged with uttering threats, Wallace was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and Dennis was charged with robbery and theft.

The trio was arrested after the June 13, 2010 incident that occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of the Fraser Highway.

A man told Langley RCMP he was walking to meet a friend when a truck pulled up and one of the occupants ordered him to get in the back seat.

Instead, the man ran for the nearby Aldergrove police office.

As he sprinted into a parking lot, he said the vehicle followed, hitting the fleeing man on the leg and knocking him to the pavement.

The victim lost his cell phone as he scrambled to his feet and resumed running for the CPO, screaming for help.

One of the men in the truck scooped up the cell phone before the vehicle fled the scene.

The trial last week in Surrey Provincial Court was scheduled to run at least three days, but wrapped up after just two.
