A driver slammed a truck and trailer into five vehicles and a building early Wednesday in Langley City, police say.

The RCMP responded in the early hours of the morning to reports that a Dodge pickup and trailer was crashing into vehicles in a parking lot in the 5600 block of 200th Street.

A man was seen running from the truck just after the collisisons, said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP. The trailer was unhitched and left behind in the lot.

When officers arrived, they pulled over the truck on 200th Street.

The driver now was a 20-year-old woman of no fixed address. She told police she didn’t know about damage to vehicles, then tried to make a run for it on foot.

She was quickly arrested and ticketed for failure to remain at the scene of an accident, possession of open liquor, and having a defective vehicle. She was not intoxicated, and is not thought to have caused the crashes, said Largy.

The man is believed to have been the driver during the collisions, Largy said.

Police suspect he ran because he may have had outstanding warrants. They are currently looking for the registered owner of the truck.

The trailer was towed as abandoned.
