A hot air balloon landing at Langley Mall drew a huge crowd including emergency response Monday night. No one was injured.

An unexpectedly landing of a hot air balloon in the parking lot of the Langley Mall in downtown Langley drew quite a crowd of onlookers and emergency response Monday evening.

Around 9:30 p.m. Langley RCMP, B.C. Ambulance Service and Langley City Fire-Rescue attended the scene where the balloon landed at 203 St. and Douglas Crescent. It doesn't appear anyone was injured but the incident drew a large crowd to watch the balloon land.

It doesn't appear that the RCMP will forward this incident to Transport Canada for investigation.  Given the hot evening, several balloons were in the air around Langley and Cloverdale. Another hot air balloon landed a short time later in the unoccupied field across from Costco at 204 St. and 64 Ave.

Operators of air balloons say it isn't uncommon for balloons to make unexpected landings even in residential neighbourhoods.
