A collision between a motorcycle and a cyclist in Port Kells on Saturday afternoon left a 52-year-old man in critical condition.

Surrey RCMP said Monday morning the cyclist remains in critical condition.

According to police, the driver and passenger on the motorcycle suffered “very minor injuries” and were treated by emergency services at the scene.

The collision happened in the 19400-block of 96th Avenue around 3.30 p.m. on Saturday and left a stretch of 96th Avenue closed for several hours.

The Criminal Collision Investigation Team is conducting an investigation but police say it’s too early to discuss potential causes of the crash.

Officers spoke to witnesses at the scene and Surrey RCMP said it intends to canvas businesses Monday for any video surveillance available.
