A four-year-old girl was expected to make a full recovery after she was kicked by a horse at an indoor horse riding arena in Langley.

It happened near the 1400 block of 216 Street around 8:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Contrary to initial reports, the girl was hit in the chest, not the head.

She was reportedly wearing a helmet and was apparently standing to the side of the horse when she was kicked.

The impact sent her flying several feet and knocked her unconscious, but she was beginning to come to when the first emergency responders arrived.

She was transported to Children's hospital by air ambulance with what were described as serious injuries.
