Golden Ears Provincial Park remains closed, although visitors are welcome to walk into the park.
According to BC Parks, the park access road is gated at half a kilometre after the park entrance portal.
Park visitors have access to the information kiosk and turnaround, as well as the Horse Corral parking lot and pit toilet. They are also welcome to walk into the park along trails, however they are being asked to comply with closure signage erected in the park.
BC Parks noted that the park sustained significant damage during the October 2024 atmospheric river event, including damage to roads, trails and other infrastructure.
The government agency said staff are working with engineers to assess and repair the damages so people can access the full park again safely, "with an immediate focus on clearing plugged culverts and road reconstruction."
Online they say trails continue to be assessed for damage and signed for hazards where present and they are asking people to use extra caution, and to avoid streams, stream banks and steep slopes that may be particularly unstable due to the recent storm event.
Campgrounds in the park are currently closed, and vehicle access is not available to designated day use area parking lots.
However, Rolley Lake Park remains open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and winter camping is available there, Alouette Parks, park operator for both Golden Ears and Rolley Lake Provincial Parks.
"Budget amounts for repairs are not yet finalized as assessments continue," added BC Parks.
BC Parks hopes to be able to re-open more of the park this fall.
