UPDATED: Cyclist hit in Langley

Glover Road re-opened to traffic after a collision between a transport truck and cyclist on Wednesday morning.

RCMP blocked off traffic on Glover Road and several cross streets from Fort Langley to Langley City following a collision involving a cyclist Wednesday (June 12).

A cyclist in his 20s was taken to hospital after colliding with a transport truck on Glover Road in Milner on Wednesday morning.

Police have the crash under investigation. However, witnesses say both the cyclist and the transport truck were westbound on Glover Road. when the cyclist attempted to make a left hand turn southbound onto 216 Street without signaling. He was hit by the transport truck.

The cyclist has been transported to hospital by BC Ambulance Service and was conscious and breathing. A friend of the cyclist reports that he is going to be OK. The cyclist told him that he gestured a signal at the time of the crash.

The driver of the transport truck, a 46-year-old male, remained at the scene and is co-operating with the investigation, said Cpl. Holly Marks.

Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement will assist with the investigation and ensure the transport truck is mechanically inspected.

Police are asking that anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police, call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
