Police are investigating a stabbing incident in Langley City on 56 Avenue between 200 and 202 Streets that sent one person to hospital Monday morning around 6 a.m.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested and is currently in custody, police said.

Initial reports from the scene said the male victim suffered multiple stab wounds to the back and neck.

He is listed in serious but stable condition.

Police said it appears the victim and the attacker did not know each other.

According to one resident of the area, the incident is believed to have begun inside an apartment building. However, the apartment building's manager said the incident did not occur on the property. He believes the incident may have started at nearby Linwood Park and ended with the stabbing victim collapsing on 56 Avenue.

The road was closed to traffic for several hours to allow police to investigate.
