As the snow was coming down, Doctor Philip Cilliers took a shovel to the parking lot of the Four Oaks medical centre in Langley City and started clearing it at a near-run.
"I like to shovel early before anybody's had a chance to drive on it," Cilliers told The Times.
"It's so much easier to shovel it away. It's a pleasure, really."
And, he added, good exercise.
A snowfall warning for Metro Vancouver was issued late Sunday morning by Environment Canada.
It said 10 to 20 cm of snow was expected with higher amounts inland and over higher terrain.
The snow was expected to change to rain tonight in Metro Vancouver and most areas of the South Coast .
In the Fraser Valley, the snow will be mixed with freezing rain.
Inland communities of Vancouver Island including Port Alberni will also be at risk for freezing rain.
The weather advisory said surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
It also recommended taking frequent breaks and avoiding strain when clearing snow.
