Several downtown Langley businesses were the victims of graffiti and vandalism over the weekend.

Words of profanity, names of illegal drugs, and even the name of a local gang — 856 — were painted in bright red on businesses that back onto Park Avenue near McBurney Lane.

In the McBurney Plaza itself, a snowman, which was sculpted for Saturday night’s Magic of Christmas Parade, is now covered in red, with the words “856” and “FTP” painted in black.

Just who did this, and why, police aren’t sure. Langley RCMP have received no reports on the graffiti, and said they could not comment on the words that were written, Cpl Holly Largy told the Times.

One wall in the alley says “glo gang,” “856 takin over” and “pook,” which, according to urban dictionary, is a word originating from Vancouver, meaning a “junkie or someone addicted to drugs.”

Another wall features a picture of a mushroom, the words “have a good day,” “stay trippy,” “fvded” and “856,” and a pile of what appears to be clothing and garbage dumped below.
