Very wet Ride For The Kids

Liquid sunshine poured down on motorcycle riders and motorists, who went on a memorial cruise for a great cause on Sunday morning.

Starting from the Greater Vancouver Motorcycle Club (GVMC) clubhouse in Port Kells, the 22nd annual Ride For The Kids fundraiser benefits BC Children’s Hospital to help kids with cancer.

The day included riding or driving (cars were welcome), a pancake breakfast, silent auction, and draws. The ride was started by Gord Heppler, an avid motorcycle rider who loved helping kids. His death in 1982 has meant that his widow Jackie has taken on the role of spearheading this initiative by the GVMC.

Going into Sunday’s ride, the fundraiser had generated $163,784 for the cause since 1993.
