VIDEO: Aldergrove pool worker airlifted to hospital following workplace accident

Technical rescue required for Saturday afternoon incident

A worker helping to construct the new Aldergrove pool was airlifted to hospital on Saturday, after falling nearly 20 feet into a hole.

The incident, taking place around 2:18 p.m. on May 13 at 270 Street and Fraser Highway, caused serious injuries to the worker.

A technical rescue was performed using an aerial ladder, ropes and a basket.

WorkSafeBC was called at 3:45 p.m. and is currently investigating.

“A worker was injured and airlifted to the hospital. That’s about as much detail as we have at this point,” said Trish Knight Chernecki, senior manager of media and government relations at WorkSafeBC.

“WorkSafeBC is working with the employer to make sure they are in compliance and that it is safe for workers to return to the worksite.”
