VIDEO: Thanksgiving Day crash in Langley sent a few to hospital

UPDATE: No one believed seriously injured in head-on accident at 232nd Street and Fraser: Mounties

Remnants from multiple vehicles were strewn across the highway, and much of the main thoroughfare through Langley was blocked late this morning, while emergency crews mopped up after a three-vehicle crash.

Two cars and an SUV collided in or near the intersection of 232nd Street and Fraser Highway – in front of the old Berry’s General Store – at about 11:15 a.m. Monday morning, confirmed Langley RCMP Sgt. Barry Beales.

The Mountie believes no one suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. But a few people were transported to hospital.

Beales said.

“There was no impairment or anything like that,” the watch commander elaborated, noting that the cause of the crash was still under investigation and charges could be pending.

While the cause was still unclear, one witness clarified for the Langley Advance Times that the man in SUV appeared to be stopped at the light heading eastbound, then – possibly as a result of some medical issue – suddenly accelerate off the line – after the light had changed – and drove head on into oncoming westbound traffic.

It took emergency crews a while to care for the crash victims and clean up all the debris, shutting down the westbound lane for some time, and restricting eastbound traffic to only one lane.

Meanwhile, Langley police were also called out a short time earlier to a car fire in Willoughby. The vehicle, police, learned was previously reported stolen, Beales said.
