UPDATE: Four children trapped in Langley car accident, motorist found with expired licence

Township crews extricated victims from car at 5800-block of 232nd Street Sunday, says an eyewitness

Sunday evening proved dangerous for an adult driving four children in East Langley.

At around 7:12 p.m., Langley Township first responders were called to the 5800-block of 232nd Street after a single-car accident landed the vehicle in a ditch.

Both Murrayville and Willoughby firefighting crews arrived to find the car, which appeared to have rolled off of the road, resting on its side.

According to an eyewitness, victims were trapped inside. They required extrication with use of hydraulic rescue tools, otherwise known as the jaws of life, the witness said.

All four children, and the adult, were taken away via ambulance with minor cuts and bruises, confirmed Langley RCMP Cpl. Holly Largy.

“The adult was found to have been driving with an expired licence,” Largy explained.

The driver has since been ticketed for operating a vehicle without a licence, and driving without good care, she said.
