Woman dies while swimming

The victim worked at a restaurant in Fort Langley.

The deep, frigid waters of Harrison Lake claimed a young life over the weekend for the third time this summer.

A young woman died Friday at about 7 p.m., in what B.C. Coroners Service spokeswoman Barb McLintock described as a “swimming incident.”

The identity of the young woman who died Friday had not been released by the coroners service Monday, pending notification of family members.

But over the weekend, a memorial was set up for her at Beatniks Bistro, the Fort Langley restaurant where she worked. Her manager, Angela Hazelton, said the young woman “was a beautiful soul.”

Two Vancouver men drowned in Harrison earlier this year, prompting an awareness campaign by their friends and family members.
