A Langley RCMP officer walks to the scene of where a woman was hit by a truck at the crosswalk to Nicomekl Elementary on Wednesday.

A 42-year-old Langley woman who was hit by a pickup truck in a marked crosswalk on 200 Street last Wednesday is still in critical condition in hospital, said police.

Her condition hadn’t improved as of Tuesday, said police spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing so it isn’t known at this time whether the driver who hit the woman will be charged or not. He remained on scene.

The woman was struck while she was crossing the busy crosswalk of 200 Street and 53 Avenue, just before school was being let out at the neighbouring Nicomekl Elementary. She suffered head injuries and was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital.

Online comments on the story on The Times’ website indicate that the marked crosswalk on 200 Street can be dangerous, with drivers not paying attention or driving carelessly and speeding.
