Nov 18, 1932 - Mar 4, 2018
Alma Winnifred Hanley, born November 18, 1932, in Gwyent, South Wales, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2018, in Langley.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years Brian, sons David (Sally) and Paul (Nicola), grandchildren Carolyn (Brandan), Kaylee, Medalea, Ethan and Emma, and great-grandchildren Kennedi and Kyler.

Alma grew up in Cadishead, Manchester, and loved netball and her corgi. As a young woman, she was a staunch feminist and loved adventures in South Wales on her moped. She became secretary at AEI where she met and fell in love with Brian. Shortly after they were married, they welcomed another David to the family! They bravely emigrated to Canada in 1968 and soon Paul was born.

Alma's happiest years were spent in the house on the hill raising her boys and many generations of beloved dogs. In her golden years, Alma loved playing table tennis and won many medals at the BC Senior Games. Alma was a kind and loving person, and loved to laugh! Her favourite place was basking in the sunshine. She will be deeply missed.

The family extends special thanks to the wonderful staff on the care floor at Langley Gardens, and particularly to Barry and Annemarie Saunders, who were constantly by Alma's side throughout her struggles with dementia.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Marcy 24th at 2 pm at St. Georges Church, 9160 Church Street, Fort Langley.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
