Audrey Kate Scoble (nee Porter) b. December 19, 1923, in Strongfield, SK passed away peacefully on June 6, 2021, in Maple Ridge, BC. Predeceased by her husband Leonard James Mousseau (m. 1945-1966) and Wilfred Scoble (m. 1975-2010) and her son Robert Mousseau (d. 1996)
Survived by her brother Richard Porter and her children Edward Mousseau, Donald Mousseau, Anne Wise, Lawrence Mousseau, Kathryn Mousseau, and Brian Mousseau, Joan Pellett and Robert Scoble. Kate is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also, nephews and nieces Susan Holloway, Ross Hedley, Douglas Porter and Karen Farley
Born on the family homestead in Strongfield SK, Kate had four siblings; sisters Patricia (m. Hedley) and Phyllis (m. Purkis), brothers Robin and Richard. Her family relocated to Victoria BC when she was three years old. During the depression years her family survived by maintaining a 10-acre orchard at Kelvin Lodge on Kisber Place, Victoria, BC. sometimes paying for school tuition with boxes of fruit.
Kay joined the war effort in 1942 and had postings in Rockcliffe ON, Yorkton SK and Pat Bay BC where she met her husband Leonard and married in 1945. After the war Leonard remained in the RCAF and as they were raising seven children, were posted to Portage La Prairie MB, Ft. St John BC, Mount Hope ON, Comox BC, Goose Bay Labrador, Moose Jaw SK, Clinton ON and finally Cold Lake AB where Leonard passed suddenly in 1966.
Kay moved to London ON and then to Burnaby BC in 1972 where she met her husband of 35 years, Wilfred Scoble. Kay and Wilf were among the first residents of Queen Anne Green in Walnut Grove where they enjoyed a long and wonderful retirement with a large circle of friends, spending their summers at their "little bit of paradise cottage" located at Silver Lake, WA, and taking frequent cruises to many ports of call around the globe.
Kay was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. A life well lived!
A funeral mass will be held (by invitation) at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Walnut Grove on Friday June 18th at 11 am. Interment to follow at a later date at the Ft. Langley Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her son Robert and husband Wilfred.
